“The more you know of your history, the more liberated you are”
– Maya Angelou
Black History Month is a time to recognize Black people in all our communities, and the ways in which Black folks have always shown up for one another; especially in movements for justice. We want to name and hold space for Black women, Black trans women, and Black gender-diverse folks, who are so often carrying this work while facing some of the greatest harm themselves.
At SASC, we know that real support is more than just words. It means actively listening, learning, believing survivors, and ultimately working towards a world where safety and dignity aren’t conditional.
